Eight Months on Brian Johnson’s Blueprint Protocol
At the age of 66, Does it make a difference? Is it worth the money?
I started using the blueprint protocol after watching the documentary Bryan Johnson did for Netflix. I was impressed by his integrity and attention to detail for creating the line. I know a lot of scientists complain that he isn’t doing double blind studies before testing out his concoctions on himself and offering them to the public. But it would be impossible to take a large population and test all these protocols for 20 years and then start on them. By that time a lot of us would already be dead or very ill.
With all the longevity scams it’s easy to get sucked into spending money on supplements that don’t work. I always steer clear of the infomercial-style sales pages that have extreme graphics and tacky stock photos of grandmas kicking their feet up to the side and other cheesy graphics.
I hate it when they try to scare you with what will happen if you don’t buy their product and blather on about all the benefits without even giving you the exact ingredients or amounts used or reasons for using them.
But Blueprint is crystal clear about what is in each product, where it was sourced and the reasons for using it. Blueprint has done the work of collecting thousands of studies on longevity and optimal health and aggregating the data to use only the highest rated substances for blueprint stacks.

Blueprint is subtle at first but after a few weeks I noticed more mental clarity and my energy is a lot better. I used to have to nap a lot because of exhaustion but not any longer.
It takes time to build up resources in your body, but Blueprint is the best bang for your buck when it comes to buying supplements that are high quality and not just flushed away in the toilet.
His formulation has been tested for heavy metals and toxins, and these are the same supplements he takes every day in the correct dosages concentrations for humans in general.
He does take a few other things in his personal stack that are not included in his blue print offerings that are just too expensive for the average person.
I am not a male in my 40s but a female in her 60s with different issues. I take a few other supplements that are not included in Blueprint
After the first month I noticed an unexpected side effect of eyesight improvement. I had been wearing reading glasses for fine print since I turned 40 and now at 66, I have not used reading glasses in six months. Around month 3 I took the reading glasses out of my purse after realizing I had not touched them in months.
Last month I had a slow period in my pet sitting business and had to skip an order. An annoyingly seasonal business.
During the pet sitting slump when I was taking a lot fewer Blueprint products, only the essential capsules I noticed that my eyes deteriorated a tiny bit.
I still have not picked up the reading glasses for small print, but I noticed I was straining and squinting again when reading a book in the evening before bed.
I still had good energy and didn’t have to resort to napping. I noticed more stiffness and knee pain from a chronic knee injury I am still healing from, and I have Achilli’s tendinitis in one foot, and it has been stiff in the morning.
After my second day back on the full stack, I felt much more mental clarity, energy and a better mood. My Achillis pain is a little less as well. But that could be due to the Synocell supplement I also restarted about a week ago.
So, it was kind of a blessing to take a break and notice what a month feels like without the blueprint stack and my other supplements.
Shouldn’t we wait until all this longevity stuff is thoroughly tested before shelling out money?
At 66 I don’t have time to wait around feeling sick and miserable. No one has time to wait for double blind studies by huge conglomerates to start taking action. I like to stay away from the health care system and all the pharmaceuticals as much as possible.
Except for yearly screenings and labs, I prefer to manage my own health. If I waited for the medical system to help me with chronic health problems or to suggest ways to improve my health I would be waiting forever.
An Aside about the Olive Oil in Blueprint Protocol
I don’t use his olive oil because I am over fat. I don’t ingest oil except for omega 3 essential supplements. Bryan Johnson is getting 15 percent of his caloric content from olive oil! That is way too much overt fat for me to eat as an overweight 66-year-old woman!
Bryan is a very slender guy in his mid-40s who eats a very low-fat plant-based diet. For him it makes sense. For me 15% of my calories from oil would mean staying fat for the rest of my life.
One tablespoon of olive oil or half an avocado for instance, is the same caloric content as a huge bowl of potatoes, sweet potatoes or steel cut oats with some fruit and pumpkin seeds, or a delicious low fat plant based bowl of bean chili for instance.
All of these huge meals of high fiber plants are more filling and satisfying and make a lot more sense for an overweight menopausal woman. These starchy foods have a lot of healthy resistant fiber for building cancer-fighting microbiome in the large intestine and all kinds of trace nutrients. Low calorie density and high fiber filling meals are key to losing weight and keeping it off.
Since I am already taking essential fatty acids and eating a whole food plant-based diet with some nuts and seeds I don’t need to drink olive oil at the moment.
And maybe someday when I am thin again, I will try it and then check my markers for cholesterol etc. and see if it makes sense after all.
Maybe all the benefits of the olive extract out ways the risks associated with ingesting oil.
So, is it worth it to pay for a Blueprint stack?
If you are going to take supplements Blueprint is one of the best brands and at a reasonable price. The products are free of additives and as pure and clean as it is possible to find. The dosages make sense.
The blends he puts together are less expensive than buying each ingredient individually. Though I do sometimes also get individual items from donotage.org another reputable longevity supplement company.
I like the fact that he has recommended stacks to choose from. I built my own stack and get a discount because I have a subscription to each item in my order. It’s very easy to skip one of the items for as long as you like or to change your stack or skip the entire delivery.
This is not some scammy garbage where it’s hard to cancel or change your subscription. It also is not exactly cheap. But so far, I have not had to take any medications or prescriptions or been hospitalized for the usual age-related lifestyle diseases.
Other than being fat from eating too much junk food, and wrinkly from too much sun exposure, I have been in decent health all my life. So, for me it’s worth paying for high quality supplements to prevent deterioration as I get older.
